Wallenius, Food Happy People – Menus for Entertaining

Food Happy People -Menus for EntertainingThis cookbook is a comprehensive guide to entertaining. It is a collection of 36 complete menus – typically a starter, a main dish and a dessert – together with suggestions for wine pairings. While you can certainly mix and match dishes across menus, each menu has been carefully planned with consideration to progression and season. The authors, accomplished home cooks and devoted foodies, are best described by the Swedish word ‘matglad’. It translates to food happy and refers to someone who really enjoys food. If you are the type of person who will be enjoying a meal and already busy planning another one, this is the book for you!A love of menu planning, cooking and entertaining friends forms the foundation for this cookbook. The authors’ food philosophy is based on seasonality and highquality, fresh ingredients. While they certainly appreciate a beautiful plate, their emphasis is always on flavor. Odd combinations and newfangled techniques have no place between the pages of this book. The book is structured around regions: Europe, America and Asia. French cuisine is featured prominently in the Europe section, but included also are recipes from other European cuisines, notably from Finland/Sweden, Italy and Spain. In the Americas section, the menus are from Mexico and the Southwestern United States. The Asia section reflects a particular fondness for Thai food. The dishes vary in the time and effort required to prepare them. While most recipes are relatively easy to implement, they do assume some basic knowledge of cooking. Unless otherwise noted, the recipes are designed to serve 6 people.
